Drawing on previous collaborations between Amsterdam pianist Kaja Draksler and wind player Ab Baars, here on tenor sax, clarinet & shakuhachi, and two duo albums between Baars and guitarist Terrie Ex, this meeting as a trio took place at the 2018 Konfrontationen Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria for a diverse journey from uniquely introspective to wildly energetic conversation.

Internationally acclaimed for both his solo and ensemble music performed, Dutch multi-wind player Ab Baars presents a studio album of solo playing on the clarinet, saxophone, and shakuhachi, inspired by and focusing on the traditions of ballads from great saxophonists, with improvisations colored by songs like "Naima", "Body and Soul", "Solitude", &c.

Crossing Netherland and New York players, Ab Baars on reeds, Ig Henneman on viola, Ingrid Laubrcok on sax and Tom Rainey on drums present an album of insightful improv that borrows approaches to sound from natural world, performed live at Tampere Jazz Happening, Finland in 2014.
